About Me
Born in Charleville in 1959, I grew up on a sheep and cattle station in South Western Queensland.
I have always drawn and painted and received my first formal art lesson at the age of thirteen from Mervyn Moriaty, the founder of the famous Queensland Flying Art School Inc. In later years, the works of Australian master draughtsmen/illustrators Kenneth Jack, Robert Ingpen, Trevor Weeks and Christine Porter have particularly influenced my style.
I work predominately in watercolour and acrylic but love graphite, inks and pastel pencils too. My paintings cover a diverse range of subject matter, and I enjoy the challenge of very detailed work. Many of my commissions are portraits of loved ones, including pets, homesteads and gardens, Australian landscapes, heritage architecture, and a vast selection of scenes from rural life.
I have completed over 400 commissions, illustrated a children's picture book, taken part in twenty-five group showings and I am currently working on my second solo exhibition.
I have received many awards for my work and my paintings now hang in public and private collections throughout Australia and overseas.
Working from my studio on "Dunmarra" my small property south of Charleville, I draw inspiration from the harsh beauty and tranquillity of the outback mulga heartlands which surround my home.
